Export a list of virtual machines to Excel or CSV

If, like me, you have a requirement to export a list of your VMs then this is rather easy to do in just a few steps:

1. Log in to vSphere Client

2. Highlight the desired data centre or host and then select the Virtual Machines tab

3. From the File menu choose Export and then select Export List

4. Browse to a location to save the file and enter a filename.  Select the desired file type and click Save

The resultant file will contain a list of VMs including power state, provisioned space, used space, host cpu, host memory and guest memory.

Supported file types include Microsoft Excel Workbook, Web Page, CSV and XML
